The Sagrantino grape grows for centuries in Montefalco. The story is that the disciples of holy Franz of Assisi brought this grape from Asia Minor. This top wine of Antonelli is left to mature for 6 months in small, slightly toasted kegs of French oak, then for 9 months in great casks of Allier-oak and slawonian oak. 3 months in steel tanks and 12 months of aging in bottles complete this great wine. A shining rubyred colour makes the observer curious. On the nose there is an intense, long lasting scent with multi-facetted and complex fruit aromas of blackberries and plums. On the palate the wine is elegant and warm with touches of red berries and delicate tannins in the final. Alcoholic content 14%. Good with grilled meat, roast, dark meat and game. A specialiaty to lamb roast and roast pigeon.
